Venue: Hong Kong Exibition Centre
Date: 13 December 2005 to 17 December 2005
The Symposium was co-convened by ICTSD and the University of Hong Kong in collaboration with the Institute for Agricultural Trade Policy and was open to all who wished to participate.
The goal of the Hong Kong Trade and Development Symposium was to encourage innovative thinking on trade and development related issues in order to then generate constructive policy recommendations for the Doha Round negotiations. Over 40 organisations, covering the full spectrum of intergovernmental organizations, academic institutions, NGOs and consumer groups took part. This generated varied and nuanced perspectives on the development-related impacts of the current trade agenda as well as building new networks and strengthening of existing relations among the trade and development communities.
