Marieke Koning is Equality Officer and project coordinator at the ITUC Equality department.

In charge of Global Campaigns for Women:

1) the Decent Work, Decent life for Women Campaign, a two year Campaign focusing on gender equality at work and in trade unions. Since its launch 101 affiliated national trade union centers in 68 countries are taking part in the Campaign organising activities on the ratification and effective implementation of key ILO Conventions related to gender equality such as 183 on maternity protection and 100 Equal Remuneration, child care facilities at the workplace, reconcilation of family and work, stop violence against women and more.

2) Decisons for Life Campaign which focuses on young women workers and aims to promote formal employment and equal opportunities at the labour market. It is being implemented in 12 countries (Brazil, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, Kazachstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus, Indonesia and India) and consits of a trade union campaigns and special websites with tools and workers' rights checks for the focus group.The Campaign is implemented in cooperation with the WageIndicator Foundation, UNI Global Union and the University of Amsterdam. In addition, responsible for e.g. the annual publication on gender equality on 8 March, International Women's Day which covers issues like e.g. the gender pay gap and the impact of the financial crisis on women and coordinating the trade union participation and input at the annual meetings of the UN Commision on the Status of Women.

Previous position at the ITUC and the former ICFTU were:

1) Coordinator of the ‚Stop Child Labour’ Campaign and

2) Youth Coordinator in charge of e.g. the Future Starts Now Campaign.

Before i took up these positions she worked for the FNV, the National Trade union Centre in the Netherlands where she specialised in e.g. organising national campaigns for young people, setting up employment programs for young migrants and carrying our innovative education programs for young people.
