Joakim Reiter

Sweden's
Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WTO in Geneva

Joakim Reiter serves as Sweden's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland. Before that, he was Head of the Trade Unit at the Swedish Representation to the European Union, where he represented Sweden in the Council's Trade Policy Committee, which he also chaired during his country's Presidency in 2009.

From 2004 to 2008, Reiter was posted as trade negotiator for the European Commission (2004-2008), DG TRADE, in charge of, inter alia, tariffs and trade in goods in the EU-Korea FTA, as well as NAMA (non-tariff measures) and RTA-rules in the DDA. In 2006, he served as Vice-Chairman of the OECD Working Party of the Trade Committee.

In the past, Reiter has also worked with various trade issues at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as special advisor to the Minister for Industry and Trade, as well as at the Swedish National Board of Trade.

Reiter is a graduate of London School of Economics (MSc Econ.) and Lund University (MA Pol.Sci). He has also written academic articles and a book on trade on various trade, investment and financial issues.
