The Bali Trade and Development Symposium (TDS) will take place in one of the biggest and finest convention centres in Indonesia, the Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) at the Westin Resort in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Distance from the WTO MC9 Convention Centre
The BICC is conveniently located 450 metres from the WTO Convention Centre, the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre (BNDCC). It takes less than five minutes to walk between the two locations.

The Bali TDS sessions will be held on the first floor of the BICC in the Auditorium room, and the Hibiscus, Frangipani, Bougainville and Orchid flower rooms.

A. Refreshments
- Lunch and coffee break refreshments will be provided for participants. Addition details will follow.
- A special cocktail reception will be held on the evening of December 4th. Partners, panelists and special guests will be invited for this special two-hour reception at the Westin Resort.

Transport

Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport
Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as the Denpasar International Airport, is the only airport in Bali.

Arrival
The Arrivals Hall at Ngurah Rai International Airport is divided into an International Arrivals Hall and a Domestic Arrivals Hall. Participants flying with international routes and domestic routes using Garuda Indonesia airline from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Java) will arrive at the International Arrival Hall. Participants flying with domestic routes using other airlines from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will arrive at the Domestic Arrival Hall.

Transportation to the Venue
As no public transport is available from the airport to the BICC participants are advised to make use of a car rental service or taxi to get to the venue. The taxi rank is located outside the arrivals hall (to the right upon exit). A one-way fare to the BICC should cost around Rp 95,000 – Rp 110,000 (US$ 9.5 – US$ 11).

Distance to the Convention Centre
The distance between the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport and Nusa Dua is 12.1 km. The approximate time of travel can vary, depending on traffic conditions, between 30 minutes on the main road, and 10-15 minutes on the toll road.

Departure
Before departure from any Indonesian airport, participants are required to pay an airport tax of

Rp 150,000 (US$15) for international flights and an airport tax of Rp 40,000 (US$4) for domestic flights. The airport tax for domestic flights applies also for connecting flights to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta.

Visa Information

Please note that the ICTSD is not able to organize visa arrangements.

Visa applications should commence as soon as possible and be completed at least one month before the date of travel.

Nationals from a list of 65 members are eligible to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport for a 30-day visit. All visitors must have a passport valid for at least six months at the time of entry and a valid return ticket to another country. The cost of the VoA is US$25, and must be paid in cash. Please therefore ensure to carry the necessary amount with you.

Registration, Accreditation and Security Perimeter

Registration for the Bali TDS
Partner organizations are responsible for ensuring that their staff and panelists are registered through the ICTSD website (to be announced). ICTSD on-line registration will remain open until 1st of December 2013. Please note that all partners and panelists must be registered to ensure that a badge is available upon their arrival at the Symposium. Registration at the Bali TDS has no implication to the WTO 9th Ministerial Conference (MC9) accreditation, which needs to be handled separately.

Participation at the Symposium is free of charge for those attending although we do require for travel and accommodation costs to be borne by participants.

Accreditation at the WTO MC9 Activities
Partner organizations interested in attending the WTO MC9 activities within the WTO secured area are responsible for registering and accrediting their staff and panelists. For further information on accreditation procedures, please follow the guidelines found on the WTO MC9 website at http://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/minist_e/mc9_e/mc9_e.htm. Please note the WTO MC9 accreditation deadline for NGOs is 13 October 2013 (midnight, GMT). After that date, the on-line form will be closed and requests for registration will no longer be processed.

Security Perimeter- IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The Indonesian authorities will be implementing a secondary security perimeter which will extend beyond the WTO MC9 conference centre. The secondary security perimeter roughly corresponds to the BTDC area. In order to move freely within this secondary security perimeter, which encompasses the Bali TDS conference centre, all participants will either need to have:
- WTO MC9 Accreditation and/or
- Confirmation of Accommodation at a hotel within the security perimeter. The indicative list of hotels located within the secondary security perimeter can be found in the ACCOMMODATION section.

The ICTSD has pre-booked a number of rooms at the Westin Resort at a preferential rate. If you wish to benefit from this rate at the Westin Resort, just metres from the Ministerial Conference, please contact Cécile de Gardelle ([email protected]) in advance with details of your request. This offer is only available for Partner Organizations. Please note, due to limited rooms, this offer operates on a first come, first serve bases.

General Information

Currency
The Indonesian rupiah exchange rate is approximately Rp 9,600 to 1 USD and Rp  12,300 to 1 Euro. While the USD is accepted at most shops and business, you are advised to change currency in advance to avoid paying a higher rate.

Languages
The official language of Indonesia is Bahasa. However, in Bali, many people speak the local Balinese language. English is spoken widely in major cities

Bali is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8)

Electricity
Power in Indonesia is 220 volts with a frequency of 50 Hz. The primary sockets in Indonesia are the two-pin Europe and Schuko type plugs.
