James BROWN

Mr. Brown has over a decade of experience in fisheries management and policy, including fisheries subsidies. Before assuming his current post, he worked on the WTO fisheries subsidies negotiations in Wellington in the Ministry of Fisheries, where he also managed New Zealand’s fishing vessels and policies in relation to the Southern Ocean and South Pacific high seas.

Prior to this, he was based in Europe where he undertook independent policy work and provided advice to the EU institutions, Member State agencies, industry and NGOs on Common Fisheries Policy and fisheries subsidy reform.  He also spent two years in Uganda working on the management and economics of small scale inland fisheries and their management.
